Hi, I'm fairly new to this forum and have a question. I started on Hydroxychloroquine 200 mgs Bid for 5 days now. I seem to be getting fever in the afternoon. I just get so fatigued and cold and eyes feel very heavy. It just dawned on me yesterday when I looked at my eyes and seen how glassy they were that I may have a fever. Is this common when you start this type of med or should I contact My Rheumy and mention it. Although I took my temperature it was normal probably due to the Hydrocodone, I do every afternoon when all symptoms come back. Please let me know what you think I should do.

Hey constantpain,
I take plaquenil and have never had a fever from it. But that sure doesnt mean you cannot have one.... works so different for everyone. I sure hope that you find out. I too take hydrocodone for pain everyday. twice a day as a matter of a fact. So I would think that might help to keep a fever down somewhat. HOpe you find out soon.

You should call your rheumy doctor and tell them or leave a message for your doctor, and you can go to www.drugs.com to find out the side effects of this medication...Many well wishes and I hope your doing better soon...

OH MY GOD GET TO THE DOCTOR,

Not wanting to scare you but i was on Plaquinil and had a fever & Sore throat i brushed it off then it got worse till i was admitted to Hospital with a 109f (43c) Fever Delirious and with ulcers on my Tounge & Throat i was in hospital on an iv for a week and unable to eat solids for a month and the ulcers took litteraly months to go and now when i get flare ups i get ulcers on tounge. Now Warned off Not to use Plaquinil and Any Assosiated Drugs

Hi, wow I couldn't believe when I saw this question. I have been on

Plequinil for 5 years now. I do appreciate how much it helps me. I do

have that fever feeling every once in a while. Especially if I drink alcohol.

I take my temp and it says no temp, but I know it is there. thanks for

the post. It always feels better to know others know what you are going

through.

Do speak to your doctor but, I am much more inclined to think the fever is caused by the RA-since it is a typical symptom rather than the plaquinil for which it is an extremely rare side effect.

Fever, fatigue, malaise-typical automimmune symptoms.
