Any suggestions for non oral medication?

I cannot swallow pills for the life of me! every time I get it in my hand my throat tightens up, it's so bad that when I had UC I had a g-tube placed while I was battling that for 2 years. Now I have had RA since I was 9, I am now 19 and I am worried about deformities my left idex finger is starting to turn at the tip towards the middle one and I have never been able to make a fist on both hands so it's something I have always been embarrassed of and now that I'm off to college and hopefully going to meet someone I don't want my deformities to get in the way so I want something to stop them I have been in remission for about 4 years and my ANA blood work shows no high levels of inflammation so my doctor says I'm still on remission an so I don't have any meds, but I have been experiencing pain again and stiffness so I wanted to know if maybe the humira or enbrel will help the only one I liked while on it was enbrel it helped A LOT! so I was wondering how to I get this or any other with my doctor thinking I'm fine, I just don't want her to just give me Celebrex again it didn't do anything for me.

There are many injectable medications like Enbrel, Humira or Cimzia, and Remicade is usually given as an infusion in the Doctor's office or clinic. I think there is a liquid form of methotrexate that you can get, also. Have you talked to your doctor? If he's not approachable, I suggest finding a new Rheumatologist. Its important to have one who you like and is easy to talk to. Good luck.

I took Enbrel for 14 years and it was an incredible help with my RA symptoms. I doubt though that unless your tests are coming back with an active state you are going to want to take it. You might try taking Tumeric. It comes in capsules but you can take it out and use it in food or even just try mixing it with a drink or something. You can also purchase it in root form and eat it with carrots or something to get past the taste. I take it 2x a day for a total of 2000 mg and it is helpful and it is not damaging to your stomach like many other NSAID medications can be. I hope you feel better.

yeah I had taken enbrel for 2 years before I went into remission an I am now on to my second rheumatologist because when I was in the hospital for UC he had came up and visited to talk about my RA possibly being out of remission and he said he would give me Celebrex but not only was it a pill it made me sick and I said I wouldn't take it and he got mad and walked out of my room he was so unprofessional and to make it worse he is a pediatrician rheumatologist! anyway I think my body handles the injections better because when battling UC I had a g-tube so I could take any medication and none were working so they think that my body has become immune to a lot of the steroids and anti inflammation meds if that is even possible but thank you for the help and references I greatly appreciate it all!!
