 Hello,

I hope all of you are not in too much pain..I have a quick question. I was wondering if anyone has had Feltys Syndrome. I just found out that I have had it. I was never told by my Rheumy, but I had to go to the e.r. last friday and he said that it was in my chart that I had had it. I just don't get it. Why would they not tell me. I mean I was very sick with alot of complications from the R.A but still. I would've like to have known. I hear that it is pretty rare so I'm wondering if anyone here has had it.

Hey there Lori.. did you call your rheumy and ask what the deal was? That's crazy! I can't believe they would not tell you something like that.. I'm not familiar with Felty's.. but I'm going to do some research and get back to you.. :) Hang in there!

How long have you had RA? do you have an enlarged spleen?

How are? Thank you for your response. I don't know why he would keep that from me. I was diagnosed with R.A. 2 1/2 years ago. A few months after my diagnosis I started getting infections. It took 5-6 rounds of antibiotics to finally kick it. By then I guess it was too late for the treatment to help. I then came down with all the other stuff in my signature. It attacked the heart and lungs. I'm assuming that's where the Feltys fits in.

No I haven't talked to my Rhuemy about it. I am sick right now with who knows what. I tried calling him to ask him if I should go see him or my reg. doc. Of course he said go see my reg. doc. I'm a little nervous now because somethings going on with my white counts. But I think they are elevated. All my docs push me back and forth. I get the feeling they are not too comfortable in treating me. I guess I can understand why. Why I am so curious about this Feltys is because my mother also had R.A. She passed at the age 45 due to a perforated ulcer to the colon. They say caused from the prednisone. But she always had infections that would not heal...Sores on her body. Well they ended up taking out her spleen, they thought it was cancer, but it wasn't. And I guess she had serious issues with her white blood count also. Maybe that's what she had...but they didn't have a name for it back then..1983. I don't know. All I know is I just get my labs pretty good and feeling pretty good, then bam...here we go again. I guess my spleen was swollen when I had the Feltys. So sorry for talking yout ears off, but maybe someone has expierinced it or no someone who has. There is not too much info on the internet about it.
