Drinking on gabapentin and amitriptyline

I don't drink all the time but every once in a while i do like to go out with my friends and have a few. I have had a few drinks while i was on lamoTrigine 200mg and i got buzz but nothing to bad but now i am on Gabapentin 300 mg twice a day and amitriptyline 50 mg at bed my ? is has anyone drunk on any of these and was there any thing bad. thanks melissa

What your supposed to say is "no" it is never safe to drink on your meds it can cause serious reaction and it is a depressant. What you want to know is if you have a beer or two you'll be fine but if you drink hard liquor or more then the two beer limit your asking for trouble. The amitriptyline with cause you to black out and lower your respiration rates. And believe me it really does.

But if you want your meds to work and work effectively then you shouldnt drink at all. =)

You should be careful with drinking while on psychotropic meds, it can cause you to have adverse even life threatening effects at times. Please try to keep drinking at a minimum if not at all while on psych meds.
