This ought to help:
Processed food is considered by some nutritionists to be "DEAD Food".
I'll take this two steps further, Capnin Hapnin, your diet should be
light at night: a large salad with dressing (mild one) water to drink... maybe one slice of whole wheat bread. Why? Because meat and cheese (and other things, as well) are more difficult to digest and will interfere with your ability to sleep well and soundly. Cheese is particularly inflammatory. A large salad will provide your system with ample water for the night and is much easier for the system to digest. You will rest more quietly and possibly have fewer disturbing dreams.
Have your largest meal during the afternoon: meat, vegetables, etc. Bipolar patients should avoid coffee and tea : drink water, please.
Try to take meds (very acidic) in the A.M. so that you don't have that
extra load of acid from them at night when it's bedtime.
When it comes to sleep, you need to turn off your tv and computer at least one hour before bedtime, because the light from the screens slows down the production of melatonin and will keep you awake longer. Ever try an over-the-counter product called "melatonin" for sleep? It's effective for a maximum of three months only, but unless you have a sleep medication prescribed, melatonin is helpful since it mimics the melatonin produced by the pineal gland in the brain. (Production of melatonin slows down as we age, so it might help.)
The change in diet works if given the chance.
Good eating and sleeping!
