Small breast lump. Please help!

Hello,

I am new to this forum and have recently discovered a small rock sized lump in my right breast. It doesnt move when i touch it, its definetly rooted to my boob and it doesnt hurt but occassionaly i have a burning sensation in my nipple. I have implants and i have had the surgery done twice. Last year in january was my second surgery and i had a capsulectomy done with the augmentation. whatever i feel i know for sure isnt my implant i have never felt it before and i check myself frequently. while i am only 25, i am an ICU nurse with high stress in my life. I had two kids at a young age and started my period very late in life around 16 years old. I know all these things are actually not risk factors of cancer but i am still freaking out! i have two kids that need me and of course my brain goes straight to death because i see it all the time in my unit! someone please help!

Are your implants under the pectoral muscle? It could be that the implant has just increased the prominence of a lump of duct. It could also be an infection in a duct. It could be a lot of things besides cancer! But they all require a visit to your doctor, so get an appointment and get it checked out, okay?

When we find a lump, I think most women's minds go straight to cancer and all its worst case scenarios, and their hearts ache for those kids they might leave behind (no matter how old or young they are!). It is hard not to go there, and probably more so for you, with the job you do. So I'll just remind you that 80% of all breast biopsies are benign findings... and many more lumps never even make it to that point! So try not to drive yourself crazy....

But make that appointment.

Seeking the advice of the doctor is the usual first step to treatment. A breast lump is not necessarily cancerous. My sister had a lump in her left breast and she did not even have it biopsied. The doctor said it is not malignant so she just work on taking in more antioxidants now.

You are right, a breast lump is not necessarily cancerous. In fact, most breast lumps are not cancerous. But unless a doctor can determine by ultrasound or needle aspiration that a lump is a cyst, the only definitive way to determine a lump is not cancer is to do a biopsy. If a lump is cancerous, antioxidants will not change that fact.

I think it's perfectly normal to be a bit panicked. I remember when I found my lump. I could see it if I held my shoulders back.

Call your Dr. right away - not because it's anything bad necessarily, but because they will get you in within a day or two. They didn't want me to wait at all. One way or another you'll find out what is going on and let me tell you, THAT is worth it's weight in gold. Knowledge is power.

I had to wait over a holiday weekend to get in with radiologist. I almost had the video camera out with messages for my kids. I totally understand your fear.

It is true that most lumps are benign. That and your age are on your side. However, get in so you feel better.
