CFS/Fibro are only symptoms!

I was told by a new friend that Fibro/CFS are only symptoms of a disease. Not a disease by itself. So when will the real disease become clear and be able to be treated. Is it that Drs. are just stumped and can not say that?

Sueg, welcome to the CFS forum, it is nice to meet you. CFS & Fibro are each individual illnesses & the reason they have no cure or treatment is because they still don't know what causes them or how to treat them. Fibro is thought to have something to do with the central nervous system. With new research results, CFS is thought to have something to do with mitochondrial disfunction, also studies show a possible link to the central nervous system & autoimmune. There is no real disease coming, these are the real deal. Research is still ongoing for both illnesses so we just have to wait until something is definitely found. It is sometimes very hard to wait but we have no alternatives except to treat the symptoms & try things we hear about. I hope this helps, hugs, Denise

Hi all, It's been awhile since I posted. Former research has shown mast cell activation disorder in Fibro/CFS and now more recently this:

Fibro was recently found to be linked with dysfunctional shunts in the blood vessels due to excess nerve bundles in the hands and feet. This is believed to cause poor blood flow to oter areas of the body and organ systems and also brain. Sounds like the same mechanism could cause CFIDS.

Since mast cells accumulate along nerve pathways, my question is "Do the excess nerve bundles mean excess mast cells chronically activating in response to diet, weather, allergies, stress, sickness, etc. and the resulting mast cell activation similar to mastocytosis?"

P.S. Pain mainly in sternum, radiating across ribs- keep changing where it is but when bad it hurts to breathe. More recently cramping in my back and pain up my neck. Not much fun, especially when I've finally just gone back to work after years and years.
