Hello all. I have a question. I apparently have an active infection of HHV-6 in my blood, with 951 copies/ml found. Typically a healthy person would have under 200. I am acutely ill and have been for several weeks.

My insurance won't cover anti viral medication, and it's extremely pricey - in the tens of thousands for the dose/time my doctor wants to put me on it.

A few questions... Can I overcome an acute infection of HHV-6 at my age (female in her 30's) without getting Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? I have been taking a lot of supplements including raw garlic, echinacea, CoQ10 etc and notice some improvement lately. Can I knock this thing out or am I doomed? I've been bedridden for about 5 weeks, but just started taking a few steps this week with the help of supplements.

Please help guide me, I don't know what to do! I've never been so sick in my life.

Lilycat, hi & welcome to the forum. You certainly can get through this without getting Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. They don't really know why people get CFS, but some who have it have had HHV-6 at sometime in their lives. Whether the two are connected is not fully known. Still a mystery, as this whole illness is. I hope you get through this soon & feel better. I am sorry the meds are so expensive & your insurance won't pay, that is so sad. Have you looked into Medicaid or any type of help? I couldn't get medicaid because I make a little too much with my disability & survival benefits. It is worth looking into. Hugs, Denise
