I usually hang out on the FM board because it gets more traffic, but I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts in regards to the possibility of triggering chronic CFS/FM from a really bad case of food poisoning? Does that sound plausible or has anyone heard of such a thing?
My story:
I had a spinach salad on vacation years ago, during a summer there were ecoli breakouts in spinach salads. (if I have my dates correct). A few hours after I ate this spinach salad from a restaurant, I urinated a toilet full of blood (which had never happened to me before, I'd never had blood in my urine) and I was very nauseous for a few days after. I assumed it was the salad, but never got confirmation being that I didn't go to the doctor right away. A few days after, I had a bad cramp in my abdomen. A few weeks after: my hair broke off and the nausea continued off and on. A month after that - overwhelming exhaustion and faint-feeling and pain in my hands. A month after that - change in my menstrual cycle. A month after that - blurred vision, intolerance to caffeine, food sensitivities and meds. A month after that - dizziness, lack of balance, reduced coordination, trouble finding words, brain fog, cognitive deficiencies, FM-like achiness and pain, ringing in ear, vision disturbances, slight double vision, worsened night vision.
The reason I attribute my CFS/FM-like illness as possibly linked to the salad or whatever caused blood in my urine is because before it happened, I was very healthy, and after it happened, my problems began and snowballed.
I don't know if its related, but its still what I think may have started this whole mess. Would there be any way for a doctor to confirm I had food poisoning if I did after all this time? What doctor would I go to, and could they test my blood for ecoli or something?
