Will PM docs deal with chronic migraines?

I have about 10/month. I woke up w one this am at 4 with the horrible ice pick stabbing into left eye routine. So I took a relpax, then the sumavel dose pro (needless sq imitrex...it hurts like the devil, but does work). A few hours
Later I was at work and got pale and sweaty and tremulous. Probably too much meds, ESP since I take Cymbalta. So they sent me home.
I used to take a fairly high dose of topomax 100 bid for migraine prophy, but my neuro told me to stop secondary side effects.
Now the headaches are back and worse than ever.
Does PM treat migraines? What can they do?

Maybe go and get seen by a neurologists for your migraines first, look for one that specializes
with migraines...as neurologists can specialized in different things such as ms, migraines, ect...
and go from there...many well wishes to you...

Yeah, you're probably right. I know some neuro's are using Botox for migraine ha. I wonder what their success rate is.

Pain management doctor's are also using botox, but not all
insurance carriers cover botox...it has some success rates.
but for how long...and caution has to be used for botox
as not all doctor's get it from a reputable drug company, so
buyer beware has to be used. Hope this helps.

My PM doctor treats me for my migraines. I have other pain issues, but this is one of the things I see him for. I've done various trials of meds for my migraines... occipital nerve blocks... facet injections.... etc etc. I haven't tried the botox.

Over the years, I have seen a neuro for my migraines... but my treatment is through my PM.

None of the "traditional" migraine meds work for me w/out side effects. I used to be on topomax, too - but had wicked side effects from it...

I have a friend right now that is wearing an imitrix patch (she's a volunteer, as it's supposed to come out on the market soon).

They sure do. My PM doc also treats my wife for her migraines. He has done many different injections and RFA for her migraines.

I only recommended a neurologists is to make sure it's migraines
and not something else more serious causing your migraines
Always best to error on the side of caution...

Tina I havent heard about the patch would like to know if it helps

They tried me on topomax also and I to had  wicked side affects

Now they gave me midrin, I took it last week for a migrain it didnt even touch it so ended up taking my imtrex

on top of that after I called the pharmacy to make sure I wouldnt kill over from mixing them

But am always looking for something that works pain meds make my headachs evan worse

So would like to hear what works for others,

I had one neuro do a solu-medrol infusion and when that didn't work on my migraine, he refused to see me anymore. Gotta love those caring docs. Anyway, my pm doc treats my migraines. I have never done Botox and all the migraine meds are worthless in my case. The best relief I get is weird and simple. I take two 7.5mg of Mobic and it kills my migraine. As far as all the other weird side effects of migraine, I have permanent light sensitivity and squiggly lines in my vision. (I had a solid 8 month migraine that seems to have done permanent damage, crazy...)
