HEY GOOD AFTERNOON everyone. hoping this day finds ya feeling as well as can be. just a little off topic
question. i've seen a ton of commercials about AARP. and was wondering if any here is a membe.
looking at if it's beneficial to sign up. iis it as good as it sounds on tv. idea i used to get alot of
pamlets and letter from them in the past. now that i've turned 50, i don't get anything from them..(go figure)

Your question reminds me of something I heard recently about commercials. 'They want to convince you that they care about you and you're important to them." That said, I belonged to AARP for a few yrs after I turned 50. I wasn't very impressed with them. But, that may be just me. By the way, I wish I could get them to stop sending me stuff in the mail. They even send my ex stuff in the mail and he has never lived where I am now.

amasing how we seem to turn up on their mailing list and not just aarp, just about everything it seems.
i've called to company directly and ask them to remove my name. it worded. reminds me of a time i
saw a life insurance ad on facebook, read through all the info and filled out the info section thinking
they would send something in the mail, nope they we calling me about every 10 minutes it seemed
i finally stopped answering the calls. dummy me, won't do that again. oh well, live and learn...

personally i think emblems plan is better, and speaking of insurance i love how they say now all americans can get cheap health insurance via the marketplace website, yet the cheapest plan is 400 or so a month ... ***?? for som1 who lives off of comp and ssd thats not cheap...

Mark I had AARP for a few years and everytime I switched meds they suddenly dropped that med from their formulary? I started out with no co-pays and 3 months in they said I had co-pays then? Nothing they gave me benefits wise lasted more then 3 months!

The most I got from being a member was benefits everyone else offers AARP members?

That's my experience and I switched to Humana gold which is a Medicare advantage plan and love it!

I have no problems belonging to AARP, have for 11 years now.

Do have big problem with AARP Medicare supplemental insurances, just dumped them after 2 years. They are actually ran by United Health Care, and the service (despite what you hear on tv) has been atrocious at best.

Recently switched to BCBS for my supplemental. Not only were they cheaper, but they cover so much more, and my meds will be dramatically cheaper next year. That's been my experience with them.

We still intend to continue with the regular AARP membership however, no issues with that part.

Luie, thanks. I know for some people not having their Medicare kick in til next year is causing them some problems with what to do for medical coverage til it does. But, a lot of the problems seem to depend on where they live.
