Would like your opinion

There is a bill in the Louisiana Legislature pertaining to Schedule II rx's and I'd like ya'lls opinion on it.

"No prescription for any controlled substance may be written or issued for more than the greater of one hundred twenty dosage units or a thirty-day supply of the maximum total daily dosage identified in the manufacturer's package insert on file with the United States Food and Drug Administration.

No more than three controlled substance prescriptions may be written or issued to a patient by a licensed practitioner during the same thirty-day period."

The bill says "Schedule II" and meds like Valium are a Schedule III in Louisiana. If you take the meds as prescribed and do not add any thing else, like alcohol or illegal drugs, there isn't the danger that the media wants people to believe there is in mixing certain other meds with pain meds.

My concern is that again this is taking the prescribing out of the drs hands. Ask you said, what of the patient needs more than the manufacturer recommends ? What if a rx is stolen after a patient has it filled, there is nothing mentioned about that ? What if for whatever reason, the patient can't take one of the three meds rxed ? For example, they have a bad side effect, then they they just have to do without until the next month.

Other meds, like ADD meds are Schedule II. But, but it does seem to be directed at pain meds.
