Hello to you all, just joined..
I am really quite taken back by the number of folks going through something similar and it's nice to know that there's so much support.
I'm a 59 yr old male from Toronto who has recently developed stabbing and burning pain in the area where I had a hernia operation at the infamous Shouldice Hospital exactly one year ago.
I have been put on 150mg of Lyrica twice a day (I already take Oxycodone for back pain, and even though it is not for nerve pain, it does help when the area aches).
The meds were working until this morning when certain movements triggered the same stabbing pain that I thought was gone.
Until 2 months ago, I worked out at the Y five days a week, which I've done for 22 years. I really hope that I can go back one day soon as I'm gaining some weight...legs/feet and toes are swollen.
The Lyrica also makes me feel intoxicated and I stumble when I walk.
This is the second week I've been off work and I might have to go on short term disability and take a reduction in pay. Thankfully I'm married, so the bills will be paid and food will be on the table.
As you're all aware, living with pain is really difficult and I know the majority of you have it a lot worse than I do.
Glad to be here and hope I can be of some help to some of you.
