Chronic pain back and neck results. Spinal tap question

I have been a person who has suffered with headaches for years. Recently I have had some pain in neck and lower back and hip region. Test showed Hip x-ray results show minimal arthritic changes on the right, minimal retrolisthesis is noted on C5 in respect to C4 at lateral view. Mild intervertebral foraminal encroachment is intervally present at C3/C4 on the right and loss of normal lordotic curvature of cervical spine.
I had a spinal tap done years ago for my headaches and the doctor indicated the results did not show why I was receiving headaches but he made some comment the results may indicate something later on. Not being smart I did not question him further about that comment and I left the USN and never saw him again. I took me years to hunt down the results and I finally found them. The results of my spinal tap "an opening pressure of 80 mg of CSF, glucose 61, protein 37, the sample was colorless and clear. Gram stain was negative, India ink prep was likewise negative. Cell count in tube one revealed 47 RBC's and 14 nucleated cells. Tube three revealed 0 red blood cells and 6 nucleated cells, 91% lymphocytes and 9% lining cells. Cultures were negative."
Could this be why I am having some much pain? Is it related? And what does all of it mean? Any help to guide me would be great.

The worst headache ever was the spinal tap headache. I was 33 years old and was in so much pain I was crying like a baby. The spinal tap itself was extremely painful and when he stuck the needle in me the pressure was so high he was shocked that the liquid shot out. I was immediately admitted and was there for 5 days until my migraine went away. That had to be in the top 3 of the worst pain I've ever had in my life. I'll never agree to that ever again.

Hi David & welcome to the forum. Sorry to read that you are having some difficulty. Have you been seen by a neurologist for the headaches? If not you may want to ask your primary care dr to refer you to one to get the headaches checked out.

I did a quick google search for for elevated spinal fluid pressure which can also cause headaches but your numbers were within normal limits, so I don't understand why the dr made the comment that he did. You can always have a dr to review what you have & get their idea of what they think.

Thanks for all your comments they are giving me somewhere to start. Currently I have dentures, only 6 nature teeth remain. My eyes have been checked and found that bifocals were needed. Having the glasses do help. Unfortunately with the VA system it takes awhile to be seen by a specialist. I have been trying to get into a neurologist but they need test done before I see them. I do not ever want another spinal tap done since I was unfortunate to have the worst headache, which started the next day, and required to have the patch done. Hopefully my PCP can tell me what the neurologist thought of my tap results. I have not had my hormone levels tested from what I can recall (another option). Again thanks for your suggestions and I will let you know if I find out anything.

Man Alcie the cervicogenic headaches are definitely something I should be looking into. I am just a little bit scared about the conversation of surgery but if it has to happen then I walk the path. I've gotten back more results on tests. Bilateral hips x-ray show on the left side calcifications within the anatomical pelvis most consistent with phleboliths, the right hip there is a small spur off the superior lateral acetabulum. There are calcifications within the anatomical pelvis most consistent with phleboliths.
The MRI's report: L4-L5 mild generalized disc bulge with suggestion of a focal protrusion/bulge identified distal to the level of the left neural foramina in borderline contact with the extraforaminal nerve. Narrowing of inferior portion of L4-L5 neural foramina on the left secondary to disc bulge as well as facet arthropathy.
The EMG showed low LS-L5/S1 = radiculopathy.
The more I write the more depressed I feel I should be in..lol..well I am having another MRI to the hip later this week. Lets see what that brings on. I should be able to glow in the dark between my lung disease and my back/hips I have had so many radiology exams that keep me going for tests.
