Hi everyone. I know I haven't been around in a while. To all those who know me I missed you. To those who don't it is nice to meet you. I hope your day is as pain free as possible.

I had a migraine that lasted every day for two months. I tried everything I could to find the cure and cause. (Because you know the doctors didn't) finally by accident I found out that it was my IUD. I am now sensitive to progesterone. I have terrible monthly issues because of my Ulcerative Colitis acts up with my period not to mention that I have heavy bleeding and pain from the period that is horrible. Well. Ow I can't take BCP which I have used to control it since I was a teenager. So my doctor wants me to consider a hysterectomy.

I am only 32. I have no children. I have always planned on adopting because of mine and my husbands health issues. However the idea it is a forever decision scares me. I don't want the monthly two weeks of heck but I am rally scared. I knew you guys would understand how alone I feel. Thanks for your time.

Oh wow, I'm so sorry. Not for the forced adoption, but because that's just a Big Deal and it Really Sucks. Can you freeze your eggs or anything in case you decide later that you want a surrogate? (I know, super expensive) Not only that, you also would have to take hormone therapy from the hysterectomy. I'm so sorry, that's a lot to deal with and I really feel for you. I would probably be a basket case shouting from the rooftop that it's unfair.

Be that as it may, half your life is extreme pain from something that can be removed. I would probably go for it, because I too have girly issues and I am really tired of having basically one normal week out of a month. Shoot, sign me up!

Well we had decided on the adoption route years ago. But now knowing that it would be like a final thing. See my husband has a bone condition. It is a kind of rare but it cause overgrowth of bones in the face. He had like 12 surgeries to make him more "normal" looking starting from when he was like two years old. He has also had medical problems because of that like fluid in the brain and hearing difficulty some of which have required surgery. So he has known his whole life he didn't want biological children because it is very hereditary.

Well originally I was going to get donor sperm and have a baby but then my health deteriorated and now I have a list of problems a mile long. A lot of which are in my profile however my med list in my profile is inaccurate. So I don't feel it would be good for a baby to have a chance at all my problems not to mention it would be hard to go off meds to have a baby. So maybe six years ago we decided we would adopt when we are ready for kids. But the difference between saying that and then having the surgery and knowing there is no going back is really scary.

Thank you for responding. I feel really alone and really need someone to talk to. My husband is great but has his own biases. I also tend to let his opinion affect me more than I should so I kind of want to make the decision and then make a case to him.

Hello & welcome back to the forum. So sorry to read what you have on your plate.

Something I will tell you is do not agree to a hysterectomy until your head is on straight about it. In other words do not let your drs push you into something that you are not ready for mentally. Otherwise you will find yourself dealing with an even more bigger problem because depression will creep in & take over your very being. There is no point in putting yourself through something like that when it can be avoided.

I had one at the age of 32, although I had 2 children & I have never regretted it. I was having severe problems & there was nothing else that could be done to help me but that & it was wonderful being free from all of those problems at last, but like I said I was having severe problems & I was more than ready.

Now here is something I will run by you. My daughter a few years back had some type of an ablation done to the cervix for heavy bleeding & it took care of her problems. She cannot have children so she was not in need for any type of birth control. Another thoughts would be to get on the computer & start looking for a women's health center in your area & get a second opinion on this.

I hope you can find some help.

I am very glad you have a safe place to come and share your feelings. There may be other sites that are specific to the reason for your feelings. They are legitimate thoughts that must be dealt with, and they can be. It just takes a little time, probably. I have no personal experience with what you are facing. I can speak from the Grandmother perspective. If you want children, there are plenty who need to be wanted and loved. I hope that one/some of them come into your life and bless you with their love as you and your husband will bless them. I just love being a grandmother to all those who call me grandma and it does not matter a bit at what point they entered the family. I didn't know that was true until we experienced it, but now I know. Keep talking and searching. You will find your own answer. I will pray for you and this adjustment to your life.
