New week in the start of a new month and the last one of summer! Can't say I won't be glad to see it over although Florida is just as hot in September as it is now but that's one step closer to cooler days! I'm so tired of being shut up in the house due to this extreme heat and humidity.

This is check-in for all you new members and welcome. We meet up here hopefully on Monday just to say hi,run down your weekend and the week ahead. You can share appointments,procedures any surgeries upcoming and pretty much anything you would like to share with us. If your having a particularly hard time and would like to be kept in our prayers and thoughts just let us know.

Chars surgery is scheduled at around noon today so she's definitely at the top of our healing thoughts today.

Hoping everyone had a good weekend and has a better week ahead.

Thinking of you all today, hoping for less pain. Of course, also hoping everyone can find something in their lives to be grateful for and something that makes them smile.

Slept terrible, but woke up to realize I could finally turn off the air conditioner after 4-5 days, and have fresh air in here. My cat, Frank, was sleeping under the bed in the other room and when I cracked open the living room window, he was sitting in it within seconds. His favorite thing to do!! Seeing him happy makes me happy.

Prayers for Char for a successful surgery and trouble-free recovery.

Hello all. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was mostly spent working on getting ready for the exterminator coming back on Wednesday.

I had to discard two cabinets from the bedroom. They were made of that fiber board material and there was too much evidence of dead bed bugs...not going to risk that there are any eggs that might hatch. Even today, I'm still wrapping books in plastic wrap! The only things in the bedroom are the bed and the t.v. On to clearing out the bathroom, then more work on the living room.

The weather is forecasted to be dry and comfortable on Wednesday. That's a blessing.

Today is still supposed to be in the 90's (heatwave continues). The veggies have been watered and are continuing to produce well. Will be harvesting more tomatoes later this afternoon.

Good Monday to all and a wish for a low pain week.

I am in the office at work today and feeling better about my need to go on disability. I no longer belong here. My pain spikes when I come to work. This is helping me accept my new reality. It will take months for my paperwork to process but I hope to get news sooner than later that I can retire early.

My weekend was busy. The heat really affects me. I think maybe all these meds make me less tolerant? I hosted a special lunch and dinner on Sunday. I did it! I was in screaming pain by the end of the night but I did it! And I don't think my guests knew of my discomfort. I am learning to be quite the actress! 😄

cleaned house over w/e. tomorrow i have housing dept as i have requested some repairs. good luck!!!! slept good last night. walking everyday. pain, i am managing ok, bit of a bugger at night. regardless of the bill of running gas i now stick the heater on for a bit. many healing thoughts to those doing it tough. hi to all. have a great day.

Pitmom - wrap the TV too, if there is even the smallest hole for a bug to get through. Unplug, of course. Do you have any bug bombs? They work pretty well on bugs in spaces around window moulding. Follow directions! They're toxic to pets, people and plants.

I saw my cardiologist today. I'm overdue for a nuclear stress test. I'll have to try the treadmill since the meds I know of for the other type contain sulfites - my worst allergy, gives me tachycardia. I had a bad episode last week after eating half a cream-filled doughnut. Powdered sugar is full of sulfite. I'll have to look up the excipients in the nuclear stuff too. I don't really want to do it, but one heart attack was enough. I'll have to take it easy the day before because when I walk with the little kiddos I crash the rest of the day and the next day. It's not my heart, just the legs spasming from the spinal injury.

I had a busy weekend. I have a 5 hour drive there and back to drop my kids off with grandma and grandpa for their (and our) summer vacation. Sunday I had the chance to sleep in, and I woke up with neck pain at 5:30. I decided to just get up so I don't get stuck with a big headache all day. Only a small one. I had a busy day, but I fought through some pain and some exhaustion. Part of the day was my semi-regular massage, which was a big help!

Hello all. My lumbar region is ON FIRE! Was hoping a nights sleep would restore it, but it is not to be. I know I've been overdoing but it can't be helped. Thursday I will definitely have to see a doctor, hopefully my pain management guy has room in his schedule!

Alcie, thanks for the tip. The exterminator is coming tomorrow for round 2 of a 3 part treatment. I'll have to ask him about the wrapping the televisions, he didn't say anything last time.

It's a rainy morning here. Just as well. More wrapping to do before moving it all outside.

No sightings or new bites the last couple of days. I can't wait for this all to be over! Not only is the lumbar region really bad, the shoulders are both sticking and grinding again! ARGH!

I'm in a lung rehab program that meets three times a week, and it's been helping my breathing a lot, but last Monday one of the arm/shoulder exercises messed up my shingles nerve pain. Ouch! Took until now to settle back down to "normal" pain.

I was going in tomorrow to explain that no, I won't start that particular exercise at a lower level, not after a week's rest, not ever! I'll never be able to do hard it enough to work my heart and lungs much anyway, and better to stick to the treadmill where I can keep increasing and breathing harder.

But yesterday afternoon I got an unexpected call from the clinical trial place that finally, after over two months, they're ready to evaluate me for the new cancer drug trial and can I be there Wednesday (tomorrow)? You bet! So I'm headed three hours north to the center that's administering the trial.

It's not as experimental as it sounds. The drug's been tested for years and this is a trial that runs 16 months or until the drug's approved by the FDA, which shows how well-tested it is and how close to approval. But it's a nice chance to get it a few months before it goes on the market, because I've got brain mets that need shrunk now, not six months from now..

I have to be careful how I talk about all this in public though. "I'm skipping rehab tomorrow because I need to go up to the city for a drug trial." Um... let me rephrase that.

*laughing!!* Yep, James--ya might wanna rethink how you're framing that to the general public! Congratulations on getting the go ahead--I'll remain hopeful. :-)

Greetings at the end of the week! Here's hoping ya'll have lovely plans for the weekend!

Nothing new on the pain management front--still working on the right combination to get a full day of acceptable pain levels (if there is such a thing).
Feeling kinda validated by my orthopedic surgeon who rated my impairment at 58%. It doesn't change the circumstances, but it sure does make me feel like I'm not crazy afterall--there really is a reason it feels like I have half the physical ability and half the energy that I had before all this happened.
I'll keep moving forward and keep hoping...for me and for all of you as well.

It is always good to get validated by your doctors, it is the only way to stay sane. Pain cannot be seen. We struggle each day and it is exhausting. Normal people seem to think vitamins, diet and some cream will help us out. I completely understand the need to feel validated.
