Hello & so glad you posted over here about your situation. Do you have any idea what type of surgery your dr is proposing you many need? There is quite a bit of difference between fusions & laminectomy & discectomy, along with other types of surgery. Fusions are the surgery with the longest recovery & tougher recovery period. Fusions are what most of our members here have had done.
I do hope that regardless you will obtain 2nd opinions with the best board certified neurosurgeon in your area . Most of us prefer the neurosurgeon for any kind of spine surgery as they are far more experienced in dealing with the nerve issues that go along with spine surgery. We see better results with less issues. If needed obtain a 3rd opinion its best to be safe than sorry later. With stenosis most likely you have some nerve involvement.
If you want to use our search feature above, you can type in these names, Abilene, TallerNow, BirderNancy, PinkyBlue & Vic39 to read their stories about surgery. Off the top of my head these names come to mind, lol. Several of these members have documented their recovery for other to read. Also check out our sticky above in CP101 & scroll towards the end of us to read the tips made by members.
Keep us posted on how you are doing, Take care.
