been killing myself to live with walking with the stick and stopping every 30 meters and back seizing calves burning and out of breath. with sublux shoulders, arthritis in neck and hands, hands xray last week, not confirmed, but peripheral nuropathy has been recently. have slipped disk in back. physio said wrecked scapula. both shoulders so i made the decision to get my gov loan and buy an electric mobility scooter. picked up an old girl for 450 aussie bucks, cheapie. i made a ramp for it to get up on the porch. used some wood, four bricks and a gate. i will still walk when able. ht.

HT, I am glad that you were able to find scooter. It will be a huge plus for you. I have used a cane for many years & to be honest I think it has done more harm than good. I tire easily when walking with it. I find I do much better having something to hold onto with both hands. I do have a little rollator that I use but I have a hard time getting it in & out of my car & its a struggle. Happy scootering!!

After knee surgery I was offered a cane to use but it made no sense to me how that could help and not be dangerous for me. I'm glad to know you more experienced people agree about
issues with canes.

Abilene, for me my weight is not evenly distributed which really throws everything off including your gait. I am really sorry that I started using one so many years ago. Since I tire so fast it just compounds things.

gp was not really supportive when i told him i had enough of the brutal punishment of walking in the way i am and that i got a scooter. he said mention to endo your pain because he said diabetic nuropathy. said think about
lyrica. won't fix me breathing, slipped disk or arthritis or sublux shoulders.. i am on enough meds and getting jack of them.

HT, I am glad you managed to get a scooter. It will make things much easier especially when outside of the house. about
Lyrica, talk to your endo since GP is not willing to rx it. Why your GP will not do this is beyond me. I would give Lyrica a good 2 month try to see if it will help your overall pain level. There are old posts here with people having more success with Lyrica than any of the other ones in that class of medications. My husband has diabetic neuropathy, his main complaint is he has no feeling in his hands & feet. He gets out in the garage messing around & cuts his hand, has no idea until he comes in & I see blood. He is also on a blood thinner & a scratch bleeds like crazy.
Take care.

Don't go crazy with those new wheels!
I tell Nate that when he gets his license, people should watch out on the sidewalks, because there's no way the kid will stay on the road.
Should we warn your neighbors of such a danger

yeah, maniac on the footpath!! gave away my car license,
thus it feels like i am driving a little, but real slow!!!
i asked my sis and partner to pimp my stick, they are lapridy
experts and do great designs and things and are extremely
creative, maybe they will pimp my ride!!! lol.

decided that this pain is too intense,
arthritic in neck, shoulder subluxation
and possible scapular damage,
slipped disk in back hands sore, legs and arms sore.
memory bad, massive fatigue, so will ask
doc for referral to pain mgt at the hosp.
yeah a wait, but i will be fully assessed
and hopefully sorted....a little better.
