Hi Todd,
Welcome to HW. I can relate to your situation a lot. I too am young -- will be 30 in a few months -- and I too have RSD. It started in my eye (which is exceedingly rare) after a severe injury I sustained 11 yrs ago. Within a short while it spread to my face, and now, only within the last month, it appears to have spread to both of my legs, thanks to some recent back surgeries. It is hard dealing with chronic pain at any age, but especially when one is so young. Chronic pain from my RSD has impacted my life in a huge way. I've had to take multiple medical leaves from school and make career sacrifices. I've lost years to secondary depression (it took 9 yrs for my RSD to be diagnosed & being in pain without a diagnosis and without any good treatment options is the hardest of all). And I've pretty much lost all my friends over the years, because no one understood what I was going through, or why I would frequently have to cancel or turn down get-togethers, etc. I'm thankful that I have a pretty supportive family, but even they don't really understand. I promise you, the people here DO understand, even if their stories are different -- pain is pain and it impacts all our lives. I'm sorry that you are in so much pain, but if commiseration is what you are looking for, you have found a good place.
