I have been unhappy that oxycontin didn't seem to be doing much for my chronic pain. Not just neuropathic pain but what I call my real pain - from injuries, surgeries, arthritic bone spurs, etc. My pain doc started me on it over a year ago and raised it to 20mg x 2 a day a few months later because I kept complaining it wasn't helping.
I posted about my doc saying he wanted me to get off all pain meds and take marijuana. His only alternative is methadone. No thanks. But I'm really scared he's going to drop my meds altogether, and hydrocodone does help, although I only have 2 a day.
I accidentally missed one of my oxys one evening and didn't feel any worse the next morning. So I stopped taking the evening dose last week. I took a couple of ibuprofen in the morning and didn't even take the hydrocodone until noon. No withdrawal symptoms. No pain increase, although it's always bad. The last couple of days I haven't taken the morning dose. Still no withdrawal.
What's going on? I thought it was supposed to be hard to get off oxycontin.
I believe I am non-reactive to morphine, and I get very sick if I take a couple of others.
