In bed severe sciatica

Oooow! Every night for several weeks I have severe sciatica.
I use pillows between the knees but not helping.
I'm hoping to hear any suggestions.
It's All the way down the left leg but mostly right outside the hip.

Consider going to your pcp & get things checked out. There are lots of exercises which consists of stretches for sciatica available online. Hopefully you can get this nipped in the bud.

Thanks for getting back.
I've already taken care of it at the pain clinic but they just did an epidural which failed.
I'm okay most of the day but sleeping is where I am in trouble.
My sleeping on left side causes pressure.
Other than sleeping sitting up, I can't find a way to deal with it

Hi, I can sooo relate to your problem. I have had 3 flares with sciatica. Only currently I am having the worst one yet. Mine is on my right side. When I go to raise up off the bed the pain is excruciating. I have done PT in the past and it helped with the stretches but now I can't even do them. It even affects my walking.and my daily functions. Right now I am waiting on an appointment for another MRI. I said I wouldn't do shots, but at this rate I may have to. Sending prayers for good health. Hope you feel better soon

Shots and ablations and such DID work! At least in the start. I think it was 3 injections and then had a couple of pain free years. However, over time we tend to build up scar tissue and the steroid that at one time helped, begins to tear down the tissue and make it worse over time. Cortisone and the like are not "anabolic" steroids but "catabolic" the anabolic build and catabolic break down.
So there is hope that after a couple to 3 injections, the inflammation will wear down and you will have some relief

See pain Dr tomorrow. Usually just get a refill on my buprenorphine but they have a sonic machine that has some promise.
Used it once and it helped a little.
Basically just ultrasound but I will try most anything
