I was wondering if anyone has had a lumbar puncture that turned out abnormal like oglioclonal bands in their spinal fluid? I am trying to figure this out and there can be any number of reasons from ms-to stiffmans syndrome.Has anyone here had stiffmans syndrome?

Are you taking any pain medications? What are they?

I have managed to just live with the pain but I am reconsidering trying something I've had it for more than a year.

Since this thread is called Stiff Man's Syndrome I thought maybe I cold ask some questions about it.

I am a type 1 diabetic due to having been born with a malfunctioning pancreas that gave me chronic pancreatitis. My GAD antibodies are very very high. This is normal for people with type 1 diabetes and for those with Stiff Man's.

But my GAD antibodies are so high they are even higher then people who actually have full blowen stiff man's.

My diabetic doctor is one of the states leading doctors and he said he has never saw anyone with GAD antibodies so high. He sent me to one of the states leading neuro doctors. That was 2 years ago.

The neuro specialist says I show no signs of having stiff man's at this time. I have to be checked by him once a year. So far so good. I havent saw him yet this year.

This year my knee has been slowly getting worse. It is stiff and painful off and on and it affects that leg too. Sometimes the other knee will hurt too but not as bad. The x-rays show that my knee and leg bones are fine.

The pain and stiffness happens off and on. When it happens I cant walk right with that leg. I have to walk in a way where I cant and dont bend that knee much or at all. Then suddenly it gets better after hours or days or weeks of hurting and being stiff.

Any thoughts?

Does it sound like the early signs of stiff man's or something else?

I haven't had any lumbar punctures? Only the GAD test which came out extremely high. No diabetis or thyroid probs either.

Christina, just so you know this is an old thread that has not had any recent activity on it and the first two posters are no longer here at the forum. As of now we do not have any current members with this condition.
