Back pain for years

I fell about 25 years ago, landed on my tail bone and had back pain on and off for years. Sharp shooting pains, pains down my legs, one side or the other or both. 2 years ago I had x-rays taken of my left hip and low back which showed severe arthritis. I took a fall over a week ago, i was in agony, but walking seemed to relieve the pain. If I laid on my left side I got sharp shooting pains that brought me to tears and screaming, went for x-rays and I fractured a vertabrea. Any one else have this happen, I hope not but if you have can you give me any insight as to how long the pain lasted and what was done to relieve the pain. I m sleeping on my right side now flaring the arthritis up. I have Fibromyalgia also.

Hi Palmy & welcome to the chronic pain forum. Honestly, if this were me I would be asking for an MRI of the lumbar spine & a consult with an orthopedic. An old injury, now a new one & arthritis as well. Plain film xrays just are not as indepth or as definitive as an MRI. There is a lot of treatment possibilities available but its going to take a good dr to get you in that arena. Sure Fibro complicates things but still you deserve proper care.

Everyone has their own perception of pain so it really is not possible to say. An anti-inflamm can help with your arthritis. You didn't post on whether or not the dr has you on any meds.
