I have to say that from the very beginning, I thought that
Fruit Loops represented industrialized food at its worst. A feast of artificially colored sugar bombs.
Better living through chemistry, as the old DuPont advertising slogan used to say.
Anybody remember the Lay's Potato Chip slogan? "Nobody can eat just one." I'm not sure what addictive chemical they put in there (methadone, heroin?), but Doritos are even worse. I know people who have a bag of these for dinner.
Fruit Loops or Soylent Green?Of course, every cloud has its silver lining. Aside from chemical food, if we can just get people to double their consumption of calories, trans-fats, tobacco and alcohol, we can save Social Security from bankruptcy.
Fortunately, I've weened myself away from all that stuff. One day I just decided, and went cold turkey. My breakfast these days is usually whole oats (not instant), which is very slow cooking. To save time (and energy), I put it in a pot and bring to a boil the night before, cover it, and next morning I just have to heat it up. Add in some bananas, raisins and cinnamon for flavor. Good with milk, but if you can't tolerate it, soy milk works well.
