7.2 quake, san diego area

new experience for me today on easter, took the day off from med's, and I was in the bathroom not having a real good day, when 7.2 quake hit ithought it was just bad gas at first then realized I've got to out of the house, lasted 40 seconds

I bet if we put all the Crohnies gas together we could cause an earthquake, sometimes I think I could cause one on my own.  On a completely serious note, I hope you and your family are safe and unharmed. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who experienced this!

Glad to see you are posting Artist Guy, means your power is on!~ How close are you to SD? I went through the Northridge Quake in 1994 and had to live in an RV in my front yard for 2 weeks cause our house got so damaged.. EEK... I'm in Northern CA now, no earthquakes up here I hope..

I'm glad you are posting cause it means you have power and all must be safe. A bunch of years ago, I went with my daughters to visit friends in California. The first thing my older daughter said when we got off the plane was that she wanted to have an earthquake while we were there. Sure enough, we got woken up the next morning by an earthquake! Too scary for me! Hope you don't have any damage.

I was in Oceanside (just North of San Diego) for my daughters wedding 2 weeks ago!  I rec'd a text from her about the quake!!  Just talked to her, it was her first experience with one since she moved out there 1 1/2 yrs ago.  It's so beautiful there!!!! 

It really happened when you were on the toilet????  go figure..... I mean the chances of that are pretty good there with a crohnie, huh?

i guess i am so desensitized to earthquakes from growing up in so cal. it was happening and i'm like "oh, an earthquake - big whoop". i was outside on the grass for this one so it felt a bit different from being inside. it was longer than normal and two quick aftershocks. but all in all, yawn. i was surprised it was a 6.9 then upgraded to a 7.2. that is pretty big, but nothing happened. and now nothing will get done at work tomorrow cos everyone will be talking about the earthquake like it was some national disaster/headline grabbing news thing. like i said - yawn....

Artist Guy, I bet that earthquake scared the crap out of you. Sorry, I could not resist the dumb joke and I pray that you and your family are safe. I just got home and have not watched T.V. all day, so this is the first I have heard about the quake. That is a huge earthquake and I am going to try and find out more. Is there anything that any of us can do to help. I know that my church is one of the biggest humanitarians in the world and have a ton of members in San Diego that are willing to help all people. Let me know if you need help and I will go through the proper channels to get it to you. If there is a church near you they will have humanitarian stations set up to help with food, shelter, water, and toiletries. It is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and they will help anyone of any faith.

I read about the earthquake and it reported that the majority of the damage was in the Mexico area. Was there any damage where you are? Again. I am not preaching or proselying, but if you are anyone you knows need help they can find it at the churches that I mentioned previously. That also includes those on the other side of the border.

Glad you guys are ok over there. We have quakes in La. but dont feel them very much. Its like being on Jello...

so far so good, no damage, just our furnice wouldn't go on, so I have a fire because it is raining and cold up here in the mountains, aftershock this morning 4.3 our cat is really frieked, I've gotta get the ladder and get up in the attic to check out the pilot, hope that's all it is, thanks all for good thoughts, dawg appreciate your kind offers, we heard there were injuries in mexico. I guess it's either quakes in ca. tornados in midwest, hurricannes in the south, when they come and get the first born then I'm outta her.(passover thing).

Well I was in Baja California , Mexico (Tijuana area) when the quake hit. We had just left a local Walmart. I was sitting in our truck and hubby was standing right outside the truck smoking. I was on the phone with my daughter (she lives in Chula Vista area) and she was yelling get in the doorway to her roommates, and I was busy watching all the people panic and run out of the store and the cars next to me shaking alot. There really wasn't much damage here, but we have watched the Mexican news and I guess Mexicali got hit pretty good with some damage and 2 dead. I felt one of the aftershocks about an hour later. We are fine, our Mexican house is fine.

I am a native southern Californian and like CrazyHarry am pretty used to them. But boy do some people freak out. I will admit I am glad I wasn't at work. I work on the 18th floor in downtown San Diego, and the last earthquake really rocked the building. But we felt it more because our building is on rollers just for earthquake safety and the rollers intensify it some.

Thanks for the updates, guys. I'm a southern cal girl myself, but live in WA now. My family is all down there and told me about it. Honestly, I kind of miss the rocking and rolling! I remember the Whittier and Northridge. Then I moved to OR and someone freaked out at a 3.2 quake. Funny... I guess when you're not used to it...
