Bammer,
Interesting subject:) I do wedding flowers (a florist) and my daughter is getting married this July! I so here ya on the stress!!
I work with Brides and teach classes on Floral/Centerpieces n' stuff for Weddings and some Wedding planning. WHEW! Just part part time now...cuz of Crohns:( I have a few suggestions for you!
Don't be engaged long..it's too much stress..I find Brides do better with a year engagement or less with the stress. Also, just know that things ARE NOT going to be perfect and most importantly "let your loved ones help" !!! So many people want to come together and help it's natural...let them!!! Learn to delicate jobs...and let it go. Now, after learning of you dx... you do know what is important and it's to be with your loved one the rest ofyour life!
I tell Brides it's o.k. and actually nicer to have a smaller intimate Wedding. You can do more for your guests and it makes them feel special. I love small Wedding...then maybe for a honeymoon you can Hoop it up!!!
Don't buy your dress too early either. Especially with Crohns are belly's change alot.
Pick a Personal Attendant..meet with them and share your wishes and let them do some of the talking..be it your mother or a close friend. Ask them if it is O.K. to put THEIR cell phone number on things...for decesions. I wouldn't recommend giving your cell out...just saying it will ring like crzy! and that is stressful.
Realize that the days around your Wedding are going to be long...schedule your days so you can get good rest. Possibly plan on an earlier Wedding say...morning or early afternoon...so your night doesn't get too late. Seriously, you will be exhausted! Wouldn't be good walking around all corps like..haha
Also, make sure that the meal or meals are catered for YOUR diet.
Congratulations..and good luck! try to just enjoy your time:)
