PPI meds - new FDA warning

I have been taking Prevacid for 7 years. I have had several episodes of very low blood magnesium and the leg cramps are awful. I have also had heart irregularities once when it was particularly low. Now if I start getting leg cramps I know to take my magnesium. Too much oral magnesium however can cause diarrhea. How nice for us....

Thanks for the info! I've been taking nexuim for 5 years and sometimes I get a cramp in my foot. I wonder if thats why! Maybe I should take some magnesium and see if it goe away. Thanks again

That really is worrying, I can't live without mine. Even if I take it a little late I start suffering. I really
don't know what I'd do without them *sigh*

I was diagnosed with acid reflux back in 2003 and took PPI's until 2009. As it turns out, my doc was wrong, I actually don't have enough stomach acid. The symptoms for too much/too little acid are the same. I now take Betaine HCl with my meals, and my stomach is much happier. If I don't take it, I get bloated, feel yucky, and get heartburn.
