JLCat... If bleeding is new for you, it's always good to call your doctor. But... Just to help you feel better, I bleed all of the time. Typically not much, but I've definitely had plenty of "bigger bleed" days along with a full on hemorrhage a few years ago. If the ulcers in your colon, especially rectum, get deep, they are more prone to bleeding. And, do *not* take Advil... Sometimes I cave for a headache and it's a *very* (very!) clear correlation between when I take an NSAID and when I bleed. In fact... (scary) the weekend prior to my hemorrhage I had taken Aleve a couple times a day for a weekend because I was traveling to my dad's and wanted to feel better. Never, ever again.

When I was first diagnosed, I was also terrified that the bleeding was cancer. Now I try to reassure myself that, as along as I"m having regular colonoscopies, I don't need to be so scared. I let my doctor know about the bleeding, but I pretty much bleed most every day to some extent. More recently it's been more bleeding. It *is* scary, so give yourself a hug, let your doctor know what's going on and then try not to worry about the worst.

Oh, and you might want to ask your doctor about rectal meds. I use them daily and they really help control the bleeding and even pain while passing. Good luck and...

Thanks that makes me feel better, yes this bleeding thing is new for me, are you always in pain??  Is your blood dark kinda tarry? I have talked to my doc. , well the nurse.. they have been talking, they just can't say for sure what it is, he wanted to see how my blood work came back, its just this waiting around for them to call.. Its so hard to not think the worst, I am trying to think positive and I thank you so much for writing back to me, it helps so much.. My family trys to listen and understand but I feel like they don't really understand, you know. I am due for a colonoscopy it has been about 3 in a half years, I am more than ready to have one to figure where it is coming from.  The nurse did tell me the doc. cringed when she told him I took Ibuprophen.  Thanks again. 

I had same problem when years ago I had a headache at work and at the time we used to be allowed to hold aspirin and paracetamol in the first aid kit. Well someone gave me aspirin instead of paracetamol by mistake. Within an hour I was looked in the ladies and passing blood as it made my intestines bleed. I was in there was 6 hours and although they wanted to call an ambulance I wouldn't let them as couldn't even make it off the toilet it was bleeding continuously. After the six hours was able to make it home, good job as by then it was 6 o'clock in the evening and they wanted to lock up. Stomach felt sore for few days but settled down. This happened before I had my ileostomy.

I was prescribed ibuprofen for neck injury 8 years ago and after two tablets had bad reaction, no bleeding but really bad stomach irritation that took high doses of omeprazole for a month to get it better and by then had upset the cd and caused a big flare.

So now I avoid aspirin and all anti inflammatories or any medication that had side effects of stomach bleeding as they don't react well with my system. Hopefully it will settle down for you in a few days but stear clear of any drugs like that in future, not good with CD.
