Does minimal tapering of pred cause a flare up? HELP!

I always get symptoms after each wean down, hoping thats whats going on with you too. Maybe if you just keep at it at this dose, things will quiet back down soon. When did you start the Entocort? Hugs!

I think that's what caused my most recent flare(still in it), of esophagas and throat, so bad in my mouth, my teeth hurt, but I reduced my pred from 10mg's to 5, and man alive, my mouth, chest and throat are so inflammed, i had to jump my pred to 20mg's, it's helped, but still when I eat, I have to take pain med just to be able to swallow, it burns so bad going down, anything I eat, but worse if I eat any spice of any kind, evan fluids it burns going down. so I'm actually hoping that was the cause, at least I can put a name on the cause, other than this happening for no reason. But Iam stressed to the end of my rope, so that doesn't help things.

For the first two years after I was dx I found I couldn't get below 30mg of pred as each time we thought it was under control would try and taper and then it would come right back again. This was many, many years ago and so not as many meds available as there are now. I would suggest a slower taper if you have been on that dose for 5 months like a 1mg reduction. Better to take longer and keeo it under control than do it quickly and feel rough.
