Staple removal, post resection advice needed!

Hi all,

I'm two weeks out from my laparoscopic resection and they scheduled my staple removal for next week (so three weeks total with staples in). I was told in the hospital that they would be in for two weeks, do you think an extra week will cause any problems with skin starting to adhere?

Also, none of the staples are straight anymore...they've all tilted or become crooked to varying degrees. Is this normal?? Do you think this will cause any major issues or pain with removal? I'm going to contact my dr's office soon, but I really wanted someone's advice from here with personal experience :)

Call your surgeon's office and ask. Is your incision closed or still leaking fluid?

Personally, I wouldn't want them in for 3 weeks. I usually have them in for 10-14 days.
Getting them removed is never fun, since it feels like a pinch every time. If you only have a few, then it's nothing to worry about though.

I hope your resection brings you many years of relief.

Incision is closed, no leaking. There are 12 staples...so that'll be fun. Roni--have you or anyone else here have the crooked staple issue? Thanks!

Going to call the doc soon.

Sounds familiar, but not something I paid much attention too, since looking at them too much makes feel like I've been zippered.
I know they're quite uncomfortable, which is why if they tried to give me a 3 week appt to get them, I'd be asking to change that.
