Hi, sorry for the long post, but I really hope I can be of some help, as mine is not the usual progression of Crohn's. I've battled with what I believe to be Crohn's for 10 years and mine started off with nausea and gastritis and diarrhea, which turned into sever diarrhea, at a min 6 times a day and typically 15 and up.My Dr. put me prilosic every day for a few months, which did nothing for me. Things just seems to keep going downhill. Needless to say my life was and often still is miserable and painful. I too had several tests. scopes and biopsies, and all came back negative for Crohn's. Then I took to reading on the net and found this site, as well as read many others. Although this is the site I recommend to others to read. I discovered that a person's tests, scopes and biopsies for Crohn's may come back negative, but they may still have Crohn's. about
2 years ago I asked my current GI could I have Crohn's but be so sensitive that I was " flying under the radar of their tests"...his answer...yes. It was then I started to put myself on a gluten free, fat free, dairy free and low sugar diet. That cleared up my problem considerably, as long as I was very careful to stay on my self imposed and self designed diet. For the 1st time in 8 years I could finally leave my home for several hours without being in pain and having to know where a bathroom was within 5 min. or less. When I accidentally go off my "self made/imposed diet", or try something not on my diet, I end up right back were I was and it can take weeks to get back to a place where I can lead a normal life and not in pain. I've also discovered certain things do help and even my GI(s) said they were good to take for the inflammation. Now this is what I take, I'm not recommending it because you need to ck with your Dr. 1st as I did..then make your own choice..here's what helps me besides a very strict diet..with no gluten, no dairy, no fats & very low sugar + MSM 1000mg a day, 500 mg of Curcumin as well as a number of other things to strengthen my immune system which has been severely depleted over the years. I'm in my 60's so there are a number of minerals and vitamins that a younger person may not need so I won't go into all I take.I can tell you that I've spent many many hours, day after day, for years, reading on the internet to educate myself about
what I may have and will or may or does work, because my GI (s) simply could not figure out what to do to help me, so I ended up having to learn a lot to help myself. I really feel anyone ill should spend the time to educate themselves on their problems. After all it's almost humanly impossible for any 1 Dr, or even 2 or 3 to know everything that can help you. BTW I had no stomach problems and could eat anything all my life, until I was just about
your age...that's when mine stared too. One last thing, don't be surprised if you come down with diarrhea, but if you do and it's a chronic problem like it was for me, ask you Dr. about
putting you on Cholestyramine. It works great and it's an old drug that's been around for a long time so there is lots of info on it.Good luck, don't give up...you can deal with this...it's hard at times, but many of us deal with it and live a rather normal life.
