I'm supposed to start remicade soon. If you are sick with a horrible cold that wont go away will they still start the treatment? My immune system is horrible right now. I've had a cold for two weeks and the last few days its been getting worse not better.

Most likely not still a cold but after effects of some sort.  You should go to your PCP and get checked letting him know you will need to be starting remicade soon.  I have started antibiotics the day before my remi appointments with no ill effects.

A "cold" does not last two weeks. It is likely you have developed something to go along with that cold - such as a persitant cough, or sinus pressure and ugly snot. It is wise to see your primary doctor to get this cleared uyp before starting Remicade. My GI had a PA on staff at the infusuion center that I could see if I came down with something like a cold. He would determine if I could have my infusion or not. Call your infusion center and ask if they have such a person, otherwise you should see your GP.

my symptoms right now that i say cold are my nose has been running everyday. 99% of the time it is clear. my head feels like it is full of pressure, my eyes run like i'm crying sometimes and my body aches. but i had the body aches for a long time before. and my throat does bother me a little off and on but not to bad. No cough or anything like that but its not allergies either. It was bad for a few days and then got better for over a week and then last 2 or 3 days it hasn't gotten any better. Worse maybe.

The nurse frommy doctors office should be calling me today or monday so once i hear from her i'll ask her. I did make an appointment with my ENT doctor today for next wednesday so i'll have them check it out while i'm there. I wanted to make sure the problem i had with my lympthnodes as a kid is ok for me to start remicade.

Are you certain it's not an allergic reaction? My mum had what she thought was a cold for months. The doctor was useless; fobbed her off. It wasn't until she spoke to a nurse by chance one day that my mum finally discovered the cure for her 'cold': Benadryl, an antihistamine.

LOL NCoT, I was similar (18 months to be precise)I nearly overdosed every night on anti-histamine tablets. I thought it was an allergic reation but couldn't pin point the cause, changed washing powder, shower gel, shampoo, creams etc, kept the bedroom window shut in case it was pollen, changed the mattress in case it was bed bugs(lol) Do you know what it turned out to be.......cheese!Never in a million years would I have thought it especially as the symptoms nine times out of ten came on at night(and no I don't have a midnight snack of cheese :D)

@Vixen - Wow. I bet you ate more caerphilly after that terri-brie experience <_<.

Thing is, the Benadryl really worked for my mum. She never did find out what she was allergic to, but whatever it was, the Benadryl kicked its ass :p

Well both of my kids got sick the exact same time i got my "cold" thats why i'm assuming thats what it is or at least how it started.

I didn't think it was allergies but i did have bad reaction to the hunmira and i haven't been the same since. I'm wondering if its still the humira in my system. I took my last shot around 4 weeks ago. I haven't done anything new or used any new products besides the questran for a few doses. I've had 2 doses of the probotic the last two days but this has been for 2 weeks now so started way before the vsl #3. (This started on Easter. Out of the blue in the middle of the day i started feeling bad). Maybe i'll try a little benedryl this weekend and see if it helps. thanks for the idea.

Either way i'm going to the Ear, Nose, & throat doc on wednesday anyway so i'm going to have her check me out while i'm there. They still haven't made my first remicade appt yet.

I've had 2 lympth nodes removed because they were enlarged and never went down years ago. Do you think this matters with starting the remicade?
