Crohn's and Gallbladder issues?

Anyone know if there is a connection between Crohn's and Gallstones or Gallbladder disease?

There is...my surgeon explained it to me before I had my gallbladder taken out but I don't remember exaclty why now. It has something to do with your body not absorbing bile in your small intestines so it goes back into your gallbladder and creates stones.

A lot of us here have had our gallbladders taken out. My doctor didn't hesitate to take mine out once tests showed stones, and I was glad to have it gone. It caused a lot of pain and I felt much better when it was gone!

There is. I had my GB taken out at age 12. I was the second youngest in the hospital's history to ever have the gallbladder taken out. I also experianced my first "major" flare right after. It was horriable...

Heck, I didn't even have stones in mine. Mine just stopped functioning altogether! It took them forever to figure out what was wrong with me - even thought I might have Crohn's in my stomach! Fortunately it was "just" the gallbladder and was so swollen and about to rupture that they rushed me in for surgery right then. I met my surgeon later. I felt so much better though!

I agree; my gi said many Crohn's patients will have inflammation near where the bile ducts empty into the small bowel, and that can affect the function of the gallbladder, too.

I think there is. I lost mine about 10 years ago. It was really swollen and inflamed. All stuck on to the tissue and organs around it. At the time I didn't know that I had Crohn's yet. Although all the symptoms were there.
