My foster daughter has been sick for 5 weeks. She has had a x-ray, catscan, ultrasound, stool samples, urine samples, and blood samples. She had to stay at the hospital for 6 days and has a temporary eng feeding tube in her nose. Her symptoms are enlarged lymph nodes in gut area, high white blood cell count, severe stomach and back pain, horrible fatigue, diahrea, constipation, occassional vomiting, weight loss. After a few weeks of sickness, she developed HSP rash on her ankles...it is a vascular inflammatory rash, blood cells bursting in skin. She has a high heart rate, blood pressure changing often, and sometimes can not walk on her legs.
Her doctor yesterday said that he got her stool sample back and a certain protien that shows inflammation was extraordinarily high. He said if it was 50 it would be worrisome, but hers was 2500.
She is underweight so is currently on a 1800 calorie diet and will be getting diet counseling next week.
Any ideas? Could this all be HSP or IBD?
