I filed electronically Dec 18, a week or so later got a packet in the mail to fill out, sent that in, ever since then when I go online to check the status it says In Medical Revue. Yesterday got a packet for my husband to fill out, just wondering if this is a good sign? smhair

Depending on the state you live in, the process can take a varying amount of time. Some states process applications quite quickly. Others take months and months. I assume the packet your husband got contains forms for him to write about how you function. I know when I applied my daughter had to fill one out since she lived with me at the time.

Yes, those are the forms. I am in Oregon and all three of my docs, Primary, Gastro and Rheumy agreed I should file. The social worker at the hospital thought I would not have any problems due to my age and the economy. She said most people she see's over 50 are not getting accepted right away, but with my luck it will be drawn out. I worked 35 years straight except for time off having kids and surgeries but after this last one last year and my company shutting down I just don't have it in me anymore to learn something new, I was really messing up the last couple of years.

I know that Oregon has a backlog of cases. Here in Washington, cases seem to be handled more expediently. Since your husband got the forms, that means they are looking at your case at least. Make sure he fills them out as soon as he can.

Yep, made him do it this morning and put in the mail, hopefully it won't take too much longer. I had talked to a couple lawyers before I filed and they both thought mine would go through but they won't even take a case until it is denied, so more waiting. The hardest part is paying for my own med insurance, not sure I will be able to do it for two more years, may have to go without except they say you will have to have it with Obama care but this is not affordable for me.

Well after five months finally got my denial letter. Guess it is time to go Lawyer up. They said I could still perform my job as a Project Coordinator in this economy, uh ok, that is when I had been with a company for 16 years and could do my job with my eyes closed, had a very understanding employer, had my own private bathroom and could take time off when needed. If you could find me a job like that, I would go for it but that is not going to happen. It just makes you crazy when you have had multiple surgeries and then my son has a friend who is 28 has gotten it for Crohns and has had no surgeries or anything, not saying the kid is not hurting but just do not understand their criteria of who gets it and who doesn't.

From what I've heard it's not uncommon to be denied the first time. Definitely find a lawyer who specializes in SSDI claims as they know what hoops to jump through. Hopefully you will have a good out come.
