Flaring after giving birth

Hi everyone.  I just gave birth to twins vaginally on august 13th.  It was a rough delivery and the docs had to use the vaccume on both babies to deliver them.  I tore while giving birth and the doctor gave me a sitz bath and told me to use Epsom salt.  Also about 2 days after giving birth I've had nothing but complete watery bowel movements 8-10 times a day and even overnight.  I feel horrible.  My perianal area is killing me and I have multiple hemmroids.  I don't know what to do.  Should I do the sitz bath with the Epsom salt and what foods can I eat so the diareah slows down?  Thank you all for you help in advance.

Thanks Kazbern.  The twins are doing great.  Everyone is healthy and happy.  I called my GI and I see him on Monday but until then I don't know what to do with myself.  The diareah is so bad everything just hurts.

I currently take Remicade every six weeks and apriso.  I am not breastfeeding.  I did do the sitz bath this morning with the Epsom salt and it did help but the relief does not last.  It's torture going to the bathroom.  

 

Congratulations and I hope all gets better soon. Hemorrhoids are common to pregnancy and a problem for many regardless of CD. I remember all too well and I only gave birth to one! My episiotomy tore pretty badly too, so I know what you mean. Back in those old days they used a light therapy in the hospital to help heal the area.

My disease kicked up afterwards, but I mostly remember the exhaustion over the intestinal issues. I tried to breastfeed, and I didn't make enough milk. My poor daughter was trying to nurse every hour until I had sense enough to realize I was going to have to supplement. After 3 weeks and being too weak to pick up a 6lb. baby, I had to give it up. I was blessed to have my mother there to help.

Congrats!! Sorry you aren't feeling well. I, too, flared after child birth and suffered a 4th degree tear. Do the sitz baths whenever you can and use a spray bottle to clean yourself after BMs. Have you tried some Imodium? I also think a liquid/low residue diet will help and maybe a pred taper. I drink Orgain which is an organic nutritional shake. It has about 300 calories per drink and tastes good. It does contain dairy, so if that bothers you it's not an option. I hope you start to feel better soon and can enjoy those babes!!

Did they give you pain meds to take home for your tear? I would take these if they did - may help slow down the D and give you some relief. I think they gave me a low dose of Percocet that I did end up using sporadically. If you are in a lot of pain I would call your OB and explain the situation - she may be able to write you something. You need sleep! This will only make your flare worse.
