Had a follow up with GI today. Did more blood work last week as follow up to my Pancreatitis from the Imuran. Wasn't expecting any issues, but turns out my liver came back really high. I believe it was the ALT that was 840. At first he said it may be from the pancreatitis, then said he felt it was residual effects from the Imuran that was also toxic to my liver. I took more blood work today to see where it is now.

However I was just doing some reading that Cimzia could possibly do the same thing to the liver? He didn't mention that. Now I'm afraid to take that shot on Saturday. Anyone have any experience with any of this? I swear I'm getting more problems not less. shakehead

I had to quit Imuran. It made me so sick. I am on Cimzia and have been on and off it four times and I have never had any issues with it at all. It is a great medication for me. Don't be afraid to try it. It is nothing like taking Imuran, at least in my case.

Hi Jen77, I'm going through a similar thing I'm on Imuran and my liver enzymes have come back quite high too. Spoke to pharmacist and they told me to come off it until I speak to IBD nurse or GI Have e-mailed nurse today just waiting for reply x

Quite keen to try something else is Cimza an injection or tablet?

pmedic, oh I've been on Cimzia since December. I think it's helping some, which is why I'd hate to go off of it too. I'm really hoping this is just still effects from the Imuran. I've got a call in to my doctor to be sure he doesn't think it's the Cimzia. Also to ask him what if anything I can take for pain. I'm guessing taking Tylenol right now may not be a good idea with my liver enzymes being so high.

crohnielass, Cimzia is an injection. I do a shot every two weeks, most people take two shots at the same time once a month.

Got good news today, my blood work from yesterday was MUCH better. My ALT went from 840 to 160 in a week. Still not in normal range, but looks like it's heading that way. Also points to it probably being from the Imuran and not my Cimzia. Which is also good news!

Oh, and dilaudid might be ok for pain temporarily - I don't think they add tylenol to it.

Yay! I love good news!! So glad for you!

For pain, I use plain oxycodone. No added Tylenol. There is something in Percocet, maybe the binder to Tylenol that disturbs my gut.

I am glad to hear your numbers are dropping and it can be pointed to Imuran. That is one heavy duty drug. I am pretty sure it helped my crohns but it made me feel like death warmed over, so no more unless I absolutely have to try it again.

Thanks pmedic, it's been such a rough month, any good news is very welcomed! I agree that it's pointing to the Imuran, that drug sure can be rough on the body! Such a shame because if it had worked otherwise it would have been wonderful.

He told me I can take up to 2000mg of Tylenol right now. So half of the usual daily dose. He also said I could take some NSAIDS if need be, but I'm not comfortable with that! I've bled before from them. I wish he would give me some plain pain medication without the Tylenol. That's like pulling teeth with that guy!
