Any interesting questions about oral manifestations?

Hi everyone. My best friend is studying dentistry and is doing her dissertation on the oral manifestations of Crohn's disease, but she needs to focus her question more. She asked me if I had any questions about it, but I don't really know. So just thought I'd put it on here in case any of you had anything you were curious about or warranted further investigation. Maybe why certain things keep recurring, or why you get certain symptoms. Can be technical and scientific and focus on bacteria/hormone balances and all that stuff that goes over my head.

It's a long shot but any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

I will occasionally get mouth sores.  I know some of the triggers(carrageenan in toothpaste) but I'm still trying to figure them all out(I'm thinking natamycin is another).  It feels like someone took a cheese grater to the top of my mouth(hard palate).  It will also manifest on my tongue.  Starts out as a sore tongue(almost like a sprained muscle), then in a couple days I can visualize the sore on the top of my tongue.  Doesn't look like a canker sore-more like a vegetable peeler was applied to a small area of my tongue.  All this of course makes it very painful to eat and even talk.  What concerns me the most is if all this inflammation is causing any damage to my gums and hence I may have issues with my teeth in the future?  I can get these sores close to behind my two front teeth which inflames the gums there.  I am vigilant about caring for my teeth with flossing, brushing, even oil pulling. 

My tongue is extremely sensitive to sour foods - gets bloody after too many sour Skittles (half a bag). My gums bleed very easily, and I have very weak enamel on my teeth which causes lots of cavities no matter how often I brush, floss, etc. My mouth will ache when my GERD acts up. My teeth are very sensitive to cold.

I get a burnt sensation on the end of my tongue, lose my sense of taste, sores in the mouth, along with bleeding gums..With the ease of the flare, my symptoms go away..
