duodenal crohn's disease

Three years ago, I lost 40 pounds and booked an endoscopy. I had swelling and ulceration to the point my stomach closed up a the bottom. I tested positive to H pylori once but when I had the endo, it was negative. I went on a treatment for H pylori and got better. Fast forward a year, I lost 20 pounds and was starting to throw up often. I booked another endoscopy and went through multiple tests to come to the conclusion that I have duodenal crohns. I have no other areas with the disease at this point. I did a oral treatment of steroids and splenda mixed. After 6 months of this treatment, we have discovered that it doesn't work. I'm going to start humira very soon.

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone has something similar to me and if the humira worked.

I've also been diagnosed as anemic and get iron IV's every couple months.

At my worst, I did have it along with CD gastritis, an ex coworker with CD also had involvement along with gastritis..My endo showed inflammation and bleeding no H Pylori..The most common treatment is ulcer meds (anti-acids,anti-spasmotics, and anti-cholergenic drugs with a bland more liquid diet.I took phenegren, nexium, carafate, librax, and an anti-spasmotic (donotol) that is no longer on the market doctors mostly use regulan now.Mine cleared up for the most part going gluten free but for my coworker it was not as effective..

I was down to a liquid diet for awhile..On top of the Nexium, I was to take liquid Carafate and Donnotol a half hour before I ate anything..I also lived on phenegren to keep me from throwing up..I use to have horrible pain within an hour after eating anything..I lived off baby food and ensure..Looking back that was 8-10 years ago..I probably would have opted for the Nutribullet shakes instead of baby food in the jar..Any endo I had showed always the same, inflamed and bloody tissue from the lower stomach into the duodenum..Steroids seemed to help..But with CD, I am now having issues in other areas of my intestines. There was not a lot they could really do for me but reduce me to liquids and give me ineffective medication..Any fiber or probiotics seemed to bring on the worst pain..If the steroids did not work, biologics was next on the list..

I had some duednum involvement. Cimzia helped me at the time so hopefully Humira will do the trick for you.

I suppose I could give that a try. I have an upcoming appointment with my specialist. You aren't the only one that has said that the gluten free lifestyle helped. I wonder what about the gluten makes so many people flare up?

I just want to update this post. I have been on Humira since late December. I've gained the weight back and I haven't had any symptoms. I have even been completely taken off of Nexium, except for the occasional times when I eat spicy food. Thus far, I haven't had problems. I will be having a scope done in May though, so fingers crossed this stuff is working!
