Need new GI who uses Remicade aggressively.

I've been on Remicade for 16 years successfully. My GI no longer treats IBD. I desperately need some names of progressive GI's in NYC that I can switch to quickly. It's difficult when you've been with a doctor this long. Please help. peggyoreilly.

check with ccfa.org. They have a doctor referral service and maybe can help you find someone.

I would think your GI would simply refer you to someone. Have you asked him about that? Can't believe he would just leave you hanging and expect you to find someone on your own.

My docs are in Great Neck, but I believe a lot of NY people on this board use doctors at Mt. Sinai.

I started at Mt Sinai in combination with my normal GI, Mt Sinai even has their own 'state of the art' IBD care center. To me, they seem to be on the cutting edge for treatment in the metropolitan area.

My normal GI didnt even know about combining 6mp and Humira, but at Mt Sinai they recommended it.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies. I'm afraid my GI did just leave me hanging. Big brother said he couldn't treat IBD patients anymore. He is at Mount Sinai. I can't get into see Dr. Bruce Sands at Mount Sinai. He has the best Remicade background, but he's not seeing new patients. Frankly, I'd prefer a non-Mount Sinai doctor. I'm 74-years-old and they have no interest in treating older patients. I don't want to go to their geriatric center. I'd like a GI in private or small group practice in NY City, who isn't against older patients with IBD. Can you suggest someone progressive at NYU or Lenox Hill or NY Presb., Weill-Cornell?
