Question for Crohnies who are health providers

I have a question for people who have crohn's disease and are also working as health providers...
I have severe crohn's disease that is currently under control with Cimzia, along with Imuran, Colestid and I'm tapering off Prednisone 2.5 mg. per week.

I am a CNA working in a rehab facility. When I signed on my understanding was the residents there were short term and there for rehab after surgeries. I was wrong. Some residents are long term and very sick. I took this job because the health insurance is very good, and as you know people with crohn's use health insurance on a very regular basis. So I'm kinda stuck. I'm looking for another position but nothing has come up yet. I have had pneumonia twice in the last 3 months because I've been exposed to residents who are very sick. My place of employment is not providing PPE, including masks either.

I have recovered from my second bout of pneumonia and now have learned we have a resident who has had c diff, tests negative but has lesions on his body from the c diff. Am I at risk? My GI doctor told me to wash my hands before and after entering and exiting a residents room. I do that. I also glove up before I touch the resident. C diff on the skin creates spores I was reading about this.
People often ask me why if I have an autoimmune disease am I working in this field? Where I live at my age (50+) it is hard to find a job making as much as I do with good health insurance. But what good is this health insurance going to be if I am dead? I have missed 12 day's work in the last 3 months because I have got sick from working with sick people. What little extra money I make working over time is spent paying co-pays, Dr.'s and prescriptions.
But back to my original question...can I get C diff treating a person who tests negative for C diff and has skin lesions? My employer will take anyone regardless of their conditions, because it means more money for them. I continually am looking for other employment but as I said I'm stuck. Thank you for listening to my problems, and I thank you in advance for any advice or help you can give me.

c diff doesn't cause skin lesions unless you are talking about decubitus ulcers from fecal incontinence from the c diff. In that case, I don't think it's the c diff but probably several strains of bacteria causing a superinfection. If someone tests negative for c diff (especially with nucleic acid amplification testing, i.e. PCR), he or she is not contagious.

You might consider buying your own masks, available at any pharmacy, but I find them hard to breathe in personally.
