Totally TMI but....
Soooo I've had the horrible privilege of having anal fissures for about 3 nearly 4 years now and there really hasn't been any long term improvement. I think the longest I've gone without having bleeding was maybe 2 months? But then, of course ONE constipated night took back to square one. I guess the good part is that I experience NO pain with my fissures. AT ALL. Not when I go, not after. I don't even have spasms unless I get bouts of diarrhea in which case I feel a little raw but usually I can control my diet well enough that I keep my stool's mild. I went to a colorectal doc and he noticed I do have active crohns in my rectum and that the fissure goes quite far up but it baffles me I don't feel it. I did feel it initially when I got them, for maybe the first year or so but since nothing. And I've had some really bad constipation spells that would feel like glass shards to anyone. It's almost like all my nerves are dead back there.
I also likely only got fissures in the first place from my raging diarrhea, NOT constipation. So healing is very difficult, as I have to first regulate myself THEN take a small amount of fiber until I have the right balance. But usually it doesn't really improve much and it can get derailed by eating the slightest wrong thing.
Has anyone else had this much trouble controlling their chronic fissures? Or exhibit no pain from them? Or any tips you had in helping them heal? I'm starting another round of canasa tonight in hopes of getting myself back on the healing path.
