Question about cutting seton?

Hello everyone!

Well about two weeks ago I was treated for a fistula. I go to the Veterans hospital in Texas. So far it was a rocky two weeks but doing pretty good now. However today I had my checkup and they informed that it was actually going to be a cutting seton. But that since it was still draining a lot they pushing back the day they will tighten it.

So my question is how bad are these things? At first they told me that wasnt an option and he failed to mention it after surgery. Does the actual tightening of the seton in the office hurt? Curious on the process for that cause from what I can see it will be tough to get in there and do anything without some pain. I just wasnt expecting this so curoius what I should expect at the office regarding the tightening and how I will feel afterwards?

Not sure if you got the tightening done yet, but it hurts. Bad. Thankfully my surgeon's assistant told me before I had it done.

Be prepared and have someone there to drive you home. I have given birth twice, and I would rather do that again than go back for another tightening. Unfortunately, I have at least 5 more appointments to go.

On a positive note, the bad pain was gone within 4 days, so you should be able to figure out how to schedule the appointments around travelling, etc.
