bloody stools while on infliximab/remicade?

I've been on infliximab for 5 weeks now, so so far I've had 2 doses. Before starting infliximab, I had recently tapered off prednisone and was occasionally (once a week maximum) getting a small amount of blood when I went to the toilet. However, it has been getting increasingly worse and infliximab doesn't seem to have had any effect at calming it down - now, there is a lot more blood (and I am experiencing more or less the same amount of pain as before, and slightly less frequent diarrhoea). I'm so used to it that it doesn't usually worry me, but even to me this is a bit alarming (it isn't a crazy amount but the toilet paper does have a considerable amount on it every time)! I know I need to be patient but I was kind of expecting my symptoms to have eased by now! Is this a cause for worry or do I just need to wait it out? Thanks for your help

I think you need to be patient, but it's also important to be aware that nothing works for everyone. Are you using anything in conjunction with Remicade?

I would advise you to report the blood to your doctor but to be patient with Remicade. I only started feeling some kind of relief and inflammation in my TI remitted after the 7th or 8th infusion. However, my rectum is not responding to the infliximab treatment. Still, response to medicine differs from one patient to the other.
