Prednisone low dose...helps??

Have been off my biologics due to BC surgery...Stelara wasn't helping much anyway after 2yrs. Have had 4 trips to ER with a flareup tgat the first two times wasn't treated with any steroids.
Medrol dose pack x2 helped immensel.
Saw GI doc told him not going back on biologics right now...even healing and having flareups feel better than with.
Has anyone used low dose, starting at 10mg per dy...possibly dialing down to 7 or 5...tryi g to fing sweet spot...any weird side effects withlowdose? Any luck with putting the Crohns beast to sleep for awhile?

Crohns; Otezla, Humira, Stelara...steroids...Budesonide currently with 10mg pred.

A dose that low *might* make you feel a bit better, but it's not a long-term solution (more than a few weeks). And it's not enough to quell anything but a mild flare. And it does have risks of side effects, albeit lower risks than if you were taking a higher dose. And if you're on 10mg or so for more than a couple of weeks, you'd have to taper down slowly like one does with higher doses.

Where is your Crohn's located? How severe is it based on scopes and scans?

Located in small intestine...very small...over 4 yrs has not changed in size or location....
I'm just over the biologic merty go round...felt terrible on Stelara and Humira did nothing.....can't see going back on Humira and piggy backing it with Imuran.
Am also trying accupuncture and using Chinese herbs, which Dr ok with....but that alone won't do it.
Has talked about using low dose a few months...long enough to try and get feeling bettter....back ecercising and headed back into shape....which will hopefully help too..and look at diet more and food allergy & sensitivity testing too.
Sad but I do actually feel better taking apprentice own I've been able to eat a little bit more normally and feel decent.

I know someone that has been able to control her symptoms with strictly 5mgs. of Prednisone. She also tried everything and nothing else worked. In her case, while not the best or even good choice for treatment, simply the only choice she seems to have.

I would agree though that Prednisone use long term is probably the worst possible option. Have you considered Remicade before writing off all anti-TNF's?

Switched out to to the Medrol....8mg for now then trying less. Actually did terrible reg Prednisone..bloated, bad heartburn, faster pulse....just yuck.
Switched me and today I felt good....first time in so long.
I am just leery right now of any biolgics; just dealt with one cancer not ready to trade it for more and feel crappy again. I am more at risk than most given my history with cancer.
If small dose allows me to gain some ground and get ahead then I'll take it for now.
