Remicade work if failed Humira?

Hello everyone! Question for the group- if I have failed Humira in the past, does that mean that Remicade isn’t worth trying? Anybody heard of anyone where one biologic did not work but a similar one did?

I’ve also failed Skyrizi, and doc is encouraging Rinvoq. I know so many people who have had success with Remicade…so analyzing whether or not to try it next.

Did you develop any allergic reactions while you were on Humira? I was on Remicade for almost 7 years and it was very successful. However, hadn’t it been for developing an allergic reaction to it, I would have stayed on it. As a result, my GI refused to switch me to Humira for fear that I might get an allergic reaction as I did on Remicade.
I’m on Rinvoq and have been on it for a year now. The results of the scope and tests showed it was working. I only felt better in the 9th/10th month but soon I developed a flare up which I’m still in. Most patients are luckier than me and feel better fairly quickly. I failed Stelara too. I’m only left with Rinvoq as the only option. Good luck!

If you didn't have any allergic reactions to Humira, and it was well tolerated, then I would definitely give Remicade a try. Remicade is still the best biologic there is for treating IBD. Even though similar, they are different, and just because you fail with one doesn't automatically conclude that the other is a bad choice in terms of treatment.

When they tested you for antibodies to Humira, did they also check your trough levels? Did you have sufficiently high levels in your body, but it just was no longer working? Or were you metabolizing it too quickly?

In this situation, where you had initial response but lost it, without having antibodies or low trough levels, I'm not sure what to recommend. I'm not sure whether there have been any studies done to guide patients in this situation. There may have been and I'm just not aware of them. I don't know.

So unfortunately I'm not sure what to advise here.
