First Entyvio infusion

Had my first Entyvio infusion today. What side effects should I watch for? Doctor told me first I should have the infusion in half an hour and it extended to 1 hr 45 min. I have had an allergic reaction to Remicade after being on it for 7 years. I also failed Stelara and Rinvoq but have to combine it with Entivyo. The doctor even told me to contact my GI immediately if anything happens though she was telling me at the beginning that Entyvio is very safe and not comparable to Remicade in its side effects. I’m feeling now some fatigue after almost 4 hours from the infusion.

the first three Entyvio infusions for me they called the induction phase at 0, 2, and 6 weeks, and were accompanied by a follow up bag of saline for 30 minutes. So even though technically it was a 30 minute infusion for the Entyvio, it took an hour for the whole thing. Not sure how to account for your extra time unless they were being super cautious and pushing a slower flow rate for some reason.

I switched from Entyvio to Remicade recently and was surprised by the minor inconvenience of a two hour infusion (plus a pre-infusion dose of oral Benadryl and Tylenol and the 30 minute saline flush afterwards). When I was talking to the infusion nurse about she told that when they first started with Remicade, the protocol took something like six hours because they did saline flushes before and after the main infusion and the flow rate was a LOT slower too.

I have been lucky so far and haven’t had a noticeable reaction to the infusion (Entyvio or Remiicade) but have heard that tiredness is pretty common. Good luck 🍀

Randy and Tom, thank you so much. I had my 2nd loading dose last week. My GI told me that he won't assess the effectiveness of the medicine and I won't see any improvements before 12 weeks. Currently, I'm flaring up as neither Rinvoq is working nor has Entyvio started working yet.
