I had my colonoscopy and right before Christmas got a call that all of my biopsies were clear but that I had inflammation in the ileum. Not sure what that means. I have an appointment soon to find out. She did say that the Stelara is working right after the colonoscopy because the inflammation had cleared up in the colon. I’ve had injections for the SI joint pain and I feel like a new person there. The gas is still horrible. If I eat easy to digest foods I get diarrhea and if I eat hard to digest foods (can’t eat bread at all), then I get constipation really bad. So I had indeterminate as a diagnoses but the biopsy in the past said crohns, but the Dr said it looked like UC. I guess I will know soon. Just praying for the best and for healing. Yes that’s exactly what a prior GI doctor called it Crohn’s colitis. He said a lot of doctors don’t accept that you can have it in the colon. I still have a lot of nausea and smelly gas is still a big issue but I was told to decrease the fat intake since I don’t have a gallbladder and I actually think that does help.

So out of 7 colonoscopies within the last 20+ years, no doctor has been able to get access to the terminal ileum. My new GI doctor was able to. Since I have more constipation, she had me to do a 2 day fasting cleanse, so perhaps that made the difference. But I had a MRI in 2023 of the small intestines and no inflammation showed up there but it was in the colon. I would like for her to try adding something else in terms of medication because I still deal with a lot of pain, gas, and some more embarrassing bowel symptoms.
