Pain is on the wrong side

My doctor says my colonoscopy and CT scans showed Crohn's on the right side of my colon and the end of my small intestines. But the strange thing is, I don't really feel pain or discomfort on the right side. Never really have. So far I'm a mild case, but 99% of the time when I do feel something it's all on the left, where he didn't find anything. Could Crohn's inflamation be there on the left side of the colon, but for some reason isn't visible?

I have the same problem. Crohns on the right, pain on the left. Before I was diagnosed I saw a medical psychic ( I was desperate) but she was right. She said there was something wrong w/ the right side of my digestive system and the left side was working over time to compensate and thats why my left side hurt. Id say she was right since my doctors dont know why my pain is on the left.

I'm in the same boat as both of you, but I have a bit of pain on my right side, but more so on the left.
It drives me crazy. I get a lot of gas tho, that could be it too. Go figure ;)

The left side pain "could" be diverticulitis. Only once has my gastro seen a diverticulum during a colonoscopy (I have it on video where she pointed it out to me) and I watch the monitor for all my scopes except that one (naturally, the only time I agreed to being "put out").

A CT scan of the abdomen done a couple of years later mentioned multiple diverticula. My Crohn's has always been contained in the small intestine and didn't show up at the terminal ileum/ileocecal valve area until 1999. (I've had Crohn's since 1975, one resection of 18" of the mid-ileum in 1978).

I've had pain from time to time on the left. Mostly in the left groin area but often at the left waistline as well, just about where the splenic flexure would be. I've always assume it was those diverticula protesting.

My left side pain isn't the moving pain I usually experience w/my Crohn's. Like I can feel the chyme or pooh or gas moving thru.

This left sided pain is more of a stationary burning pain. Or at time like a muscle is being torn in that location. When you were a kid did you ever run so long and so fast that you got a painful "stitch" in your side? I did, and it was always on the left, and this current left sided pain is similar to that. Almost exactly like it. But it occurs w/no exertion or any reason I can discern.

Couldn't also be "referred" pain from the right side? I ask because I always have pain in the area of where my gallbladder use to be and my GI said that he felt pretty certain it was referred pain from somewhere else in my digestive track.

Or "phantom pain" like so many amputees encounter. Personally, I've been handed that "referred pain" bit more than one time too many. I'm inclined to go w/phantom pain in a situation such as yours. But - what do I know, I'm just a patient myself. Not a very patient patient tho, obviously.

Are you all talking about having Crohns in the colon, or have any of you got the left sided pain while diagnosed with Crohns in the small intestines?

I have actually got the same problem as you, the pain that I used to have was in my left side,

and actually in the left waist line, but I also had pain like a bit more to the right but on the upper left side of the navel. My GI has told me that I have the inflammation down in the right side,

near the appendix, (terminal ileum). I can't understand why I never have had pain there. It has always been in the left and upper quadrant, and as one of you said, also in the waist line. Right below the left ribs.
