There's some truth to what you posted and some are misplaced facts. I highly suggest you to visit the link in my previous post, read all the research posted there and follow all the links. It will take you a few hours to read it all as there is quite a lot of information there. Also, join the yahoo group mentioned there and read the last few hundred posts - they contain personal posts by people who already started this therapy (such as myself).
Whipworm is obtained by drinking the fluid with the ova. Hookworm enter through the skin - all you feel is a mild itch.
It's irrelevant that Marc Dellerba - the PhD your dr referred to, only authored 2 papers. He is not providing a medically authorized treatment and he hasn't published anything on the subject himself - he is just providing the therapy. However, there is plenty of research showing that it really does work as treatment for Cron's.
I can tell you that the way they are harvesting the worms is in fact correct as the patients obtained successful infections.
I would suggest you print out the actual research articles from the medical journals and show them to your doctor. Then see what he says.

I'm seriously considering this, actually I told my GI I wanted to do it. I showed him this website http://autoimmunetherapies.com/helminthic-therapy-worm-therapy-index.html and he told me he would do some research on it and get back to me. When he did get back to me he told me the doctor running the whole thing is not credible, and he has only ever done 2 research papers (I guess that's bad?) on the subject. That's not to say the worms themselves don't work. He also said the way they are harvasting these worms isn't correct (I don't know what the correct way is). Honestly, even after him saying his thoughts I still wanted the worms.
I've seen a couple different ways to take them. One is drinking, and another is putting them on a bandaid and sticking it to your arm. Patients say you can actually feel them digging into your skin and through your body (not painful, but ticklish). Once the worms are in your body they go straight to your lungs, at this point you cough them up and then swallow back down the mucus and ta-da they are in your intestines.
Some people use websites, others actually go to Mexico and see doctors there for the worms, and some even go harvest the worms themselves!! Personally, I think I'm going to wait a while to attempt to get mine.
